BIOGRAPHY

Alina is a patent agent practicing in the areas of biotechnology and biomedical sciences. Prior to becoming a patent agent, Alina completed a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of Minnesota, where she engineered viral capsid proteins to create a modular system of gene delivery vectors. During her Ph.D., she completed a professional internship with Merck KGaA in Darmstadt, Germany. Alina’s interest in IP law started when she worked with the University of Minnesota Office of Technology Commercialization to file a patent application on her thesis work. After graduating, Alina participated in NSF Innovation Corps to research commercial viability of the gene delivery technology described in her thesis. In her spare time, Alina enjoys gardening, hiking, and crossword puzzles.
