BIOGRAPHY

Robert Ray is a USPTO-registered patent attorney with more than 20 years of experience in patent prosecution, patent portfolio development, IP strategy, and complex technology transactions. Before entering practice, he worked as a mixed-signal ASIC design engineer and software developer, giving him a deep technical foundation in circuits, embedded systems, and software development.

Robert’s in-house career includes senior IP leadership roles at global semiconductor and automotive technology companies. In the semiconductor sector, he managed high-value portfolios covering power electronics, power devices, RF/mmWave systems, and consumer electronics, and led major cross-licensing and joint development efforts. In the automotive sector, he supported engineering teams developing AI/ML-based autonomous-driving, perception, and active-safety systems, and built global IP programs for software, machine learning, sensor fusion, and vehicle compute platforms. He also negotiated sensor-data licensing and machine-learning use-rights agreements, as well as joint development and technology-collaboration deals with OEMs and suppliers.
